Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "Ages 2-8. Written in 1948 by songwriter Woody Guthrie and his wife, Marjorie, this collection was "lost" for 40 years and appears now for the first time, though the individual pieces have been published in other forms. Music and complete lyrics appear with each song. Showing an intimate knowledge of young children, the book begins with "Wake Up" and ends with "Sleep Eye." In between are promising titles such as "Don't You Push Me Down" and "Pick It Up," as well as the old favorites, "Put Your Finger in the Air" and "Riding in My Car." Woody's ink-and-watercolor wash illustrations show an endearing, childlike verve, if no particular technical skill, and the whole book looks like a laBOR of family love.
