Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "Gr. 4-7. Once again the Silversteins have done an admirable job of presenting the inner workings of the human body. This time their subject is nutrition. These slim books in the new Food Power! series are crammed with logically and concisely presented information. Helpful boxed inserts contain additional facts, and there are loads of easy-to-read charts as well as humorous, full-color illustrations. Each book begins with an amusing chart explaining how our bodies extract nutrients from food. Carbohydrates discusses, among other things, the kinds and sources of carbohydrates and what happens when the body cannot process them properly. Vitamins and Minerals includes a history of vitamins and takes a look at theories about how much and what kind of vitamins we need to insure a balanced system. Useful for reports and as classroom resources. Each contains a glossary and a bibliography of young adult resources. Other volumes are listed in the Series Roundup. ~--Chris Sherman"
