Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "Gr. 1-2. A little girl lives with Mama and their cat Maxie, but new cats and kittens keep arriving. After each addition, Mama insists that "one was just the right number." Once they reach 10 feline friends (and Mama's allergies kick in), they begin giving the cats away until they're back to just one, Maxie. Although readers may find that some elements of the story seems unlikely (the coincidence of so many cats coming so quickly as well as the apparent ease of giving them away), the book's simple story and watercolor illustrations will please those cat lovers who feel that you can never have too much of a good thing. Appended is a six-page section in which Marilyn Burns addresses parents and suggests related math activities. (Reviewed March 15, 1999)0590120050Carolyn Phelan"
