Booklist Review: "Gr. 4-6. Readers curious about what scientists really do will enjoy these entries in the Wildlife Conservation Society series. In Firefly, veteran science writer Collard follows the career of a biologist, sharing fascinating information about fireflies as well as some of the difficulties of field research and the personality traits (curiosity, passion, etc.) common to most successful scientists. Poison-Dart Frogs focuses more on a single expedition as a team travels to Suriname to study the electric blue amphibians. Written with vivid detail, the text explains environmental issues and shows why preservation of the area is so crucial. The text, format, and color photos aren't so outstanding as in the Scientists in the Field series, but these offerings are still appealing views of scientists at work that can be used for reports or as personal-interest reading. --Gillian Engberg"
