Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "Answering questions that children might have about these ongoing wars, this colorful volume looks first at Afghanistan, then at Iraq. Each double-page spread answers one question, such as Why did the war start? or Did everyone agree with the war? or What is life like for children in Iraq? The questions are answered in the text boxes, photos, captions, and maps that fill the pages. While the design is a bit crowded, children intrigued by the subject will find plenty to interest them here. The writers are less concerned with politics than with the daily lives of soldiers stationed in Afghanistan and Iraq. Evidently British in origin, the book makes it clear that soldiers from many countries are serving in these conflicts, but American forces are well represented. Written for a younger audience than most books on these wars, it may fill a need for information and pictures about the lives of soldiers and civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan today.--Phelan, Carolyn Copyright 2010 Booklist"
