Summary
As the story opens, the Grey sisters of Water's Edge have just buried their mother. Their father Henry, devastated by this, decides to bury his pain in the bottom of a liquor bottle. Moving forward 13 years, the author delves into the lives and hearts of these young women, their families, and the unusual bonds that make up this family.

The Grey sisters had only each other when their mother died years ago. Their father provided for them physically on Water's Edge, the ranch that had been in their family for three generations, each of them however, longed for their father's love.
