Summary

After a failed global warming experiment, a post-apocalyptic ice age has killed nearly all life on Earth. The remnants of humanity survive aboard the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a perpetual-motion engine. The inhabitants live in a class system, but the lower-class passengers in the tail section stage an uprising, moving car by car up toward the front, where the train's creator and ruler resides.
