Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "*Starred Review* This book in the On a Mission series begins with a tense account of an apartment evacuation in Colorado. When gunman James Holmes rigged his apartment with explosives, the bomb squad needed everyone out of the building before trying to diffuse them. With that teaser, this title commences to describe mission prep and duties, the training such technicians must undergo, and the tools, gadgets, and protective gear they use. After readers have a good understanding of the job and its dangers, Perritano returns to Holmes' apartment to describe how a robot and a team of bomb techs neutralized the threats therein. Excitement never flags in this book, as every chapter is accompanied by explosive stories, such as Guy Fawkes and the Boston Marathon bombing. These are more than flashy headlines, however, as each brings the bomb tech's job into sharper focus. Sidebar facts, key words, color photo illustrations, and suggested research projects further enhance the text. As engaging as it is informative, this book is dynamite.--Smith, Julia Copyright 2015 Booklist"
