Summary
To mark the 20th anniversary of the publication of Amazing Grace , the spirited little girl with a big imagination is coming back to Puffin in two fun chapter books! In Encore, Grace! , when Grace's family and group of friends change, Grace turns to her imagination to cope with things like a new girl in school and the death of a family friend. In Bravo, Grace! , Grace deals with more change. This time her mother is remarrying and they are moving to a new house, there's a bully in school, and there's a new baby on the way! But despite all the changes, Grace always has her family and friends to support her, and she always finds a way to handle new situations in positive ways.

"Hoffman's successful African-American protagonist provides a wonderful role model for today's multicultural school community in this second volume of short, clear, event-filled chapters." - Kirkus Reviews review for Encore, Grace!
Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "Gr. 3-5. The small girl from the picture book Amazing Grace (1991) and several chapter books, including Encore, Grace! (2003), is older now, and she finds lots of changes at home and at school. Mom remarries, and Grace must get used to her new stepdad and to Mom's having a baby. At school, boys and girls spend less time together as friends, though some connect as couples. The narrative becomes a bit therapeutic as Grace deals with a bully and analyzes why her friend is anorexic. However, as always with the books about this strong, young girl, the real drama is in the reworking of the traditional fairy tales on stage and in her personal life. The book, with occasional, realistic black-and-white drawings, demonstrates, in both pictures and text, that there are plenty of new, positive roles and opportunities in today's diverse families. --Hazel Rochman Copyright 2005 Booklist"
