Published Reviews
Booklist Review: "This exciting and engaging book won't disappoint anyone fascinated by the dangerous lives of spies and double agents. It reveals the true stories of 17 well- and lesser-known spies, male and female, from WWI, WWII, the Cold War, and the present. A brief overview of the history of each period provides context for the spies' exciting exploits though contemporary spies, of course, receive less-detailed profiles. This attractively designed book has glossy pages that resemble file documents, sepia-toned historical photographs, an old typewriter font, and section chapter pages that look like file labels. Mata Hari, Edward Snowden, Russian spies living covertly in the U.S., and Valerie Plame, exposed in 2003 as a CIA agent, are just a few spies featured. The scope of spying has broadened over the years with social media and globalization, and the book warns that cyber espionage is today's biggest threat. Readers considering espionage as a career will learn about gadgets, skills needed, and how potential spies are recruited. Fun and informative.--Rawlins, Sharon Copyright 2018 Booklist"
